西非加拿大矿业公司车队遇袭37死60多伤、两年内三次遇袭-记住吧

据加拿大广播公司（CBC）7日报道，当地官员表示，运送加拿大金矿公司塞马佛（Semafo）员工的车队在西非布吉纳法索遭遇枪手袭击，导致37人死亡、超过60人受伤。该公司随后表示袭击发生在距离矿山约40公里处。该车队由军事人员护送，其中包括五辆运送塞马佛员工的巴士，承包商和供应商的车等。

 

英国广播公司（BBC）报道称，在持枪者开火之前，一辆军事护送车被爆炸装置击中。这是15个月来塞马佛第三次遭遇袭击。

 

塞马佛在遭遇袭击后随即发表声明称，“我们正在全力和布吉纳法索当局各阶层合作，确保我们员工、承包商和供应商的人身安全”。塞马佛也在声明中向死者家属表达慰问之意。

 

塞马佛全称为“西非矿业勘探协会”，总部位于加拿大蒙特利尔，在西非各国拥有多处矿场，也拥有并经营布吉纳法索第三大的金矿矿场。

 

BBC报道称，自2015年以来，布基纳法索的伊斯兰激进分子的袭击增多，2012年伊斯兰激进分子开始接管该国北部，法国部队随后将其赶出。

 

此外，据联合国难民署统计，在过去三个月中，布基纳法索约有50万人被迫逃离家园。

Gunmen ambushed five buses carrying workers for a Canadian gold mining company in an attack near a mine in Burkina Faso. It is the deadliest attack in five years of near constant Jihadist violence in the country.

 

At least 37 civilians are dead and more than 60 are wounded after gunmen attacked a convoy of local employees working for the Canadian gold mining company Semafo in Burkina Faso on Wednesday morning.

 

Five buses and a military escort were ambushed approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) from a gold mine in Boungou in the eastern part of the country.

 

Local sources said the attack began when an improvised explosive device struck a military vehicle in the convoy. Unidentified gunmen opened fire shortly after.

 

Deadliest attack in recent history

 

The convoy suffered "several fatalities and injuries", the company said in a statement, adding that operations at the mine were not affected. The death toll, which thus far does not include security personnel, is expected to mount. It is already the deadliest attack in nearly five years of jihadist violence in the country.

 

Governor of the Est region Saidou Sanou condemned the attack as "barbarous and cowardly".

 

 

 

It is the third such attack on the Montreal-based company, who runs two mines in the West African country, in Burkina Faso in the last 15 months. Vehicles on their way to the mines were victims of a similar deadly attack in August last year, while a police vehicle was targeted on the same road in December.

 

Jihadist violence has plagued Burkina Faso in recent years. The northern part of the country has served as a haven for Islamist extremist who cross the border from Mali. More than 630 people in the country have died in regular attacks that include raids on villages, road mines and suicide bombings. Past instances of violence have been claimed by various jihadist groups, like al-Qaeda and the Islamic State.

 

Until the Wednesday ambush, the country's deadliest attack had occurred at a hotel in the capital Ouagadougou in January 2016. Jihadists killed 30 people, half of them foreign nationals.

 

The country is among the world's poorest nations, with poorly equipped security forces and a fragile political system that have been unable to rein in the violence.
